Our Future, Our Kingston Exhibition @ Kingston Library

I visited Kingston's library to view an exhibition about a greener more 'Eco friendly' Kingston upon Thames.
The exhibition was funded by Artgym and Transition Town Kingston were delighted to announce the free exhibition of the artwork produced by local participants. The people involved were from local communities and Transition town Kingston mention that they are so proud to be able to honour the work that participants made by hosting this exhibition in the community's museum.

An introduction board explaining the brief behind the exhibition

The work was mounted on the walls and hung from the ceiling

The work was very much abstract but it contained some bold concepts for a cleaner, greener Kingston

These were also the same as the work on the walls but done in a different way

Part of the brief set out by Transition Town Kingston was to get the pupils to think of everything that reminded them of Kingston

A list of everyone involved in the creation of the work exhibited

Issues of Kingston's museum flyers leading up to the exhibition

 "Exhibition funded by Artgym"

Two articles on how Transition Town Kingston will change the way Kingston's community operates

An article by 'Transition Initiatives' provoking thought on how to deal with oil dependency

A visitor response wall was set up

"Kingston needs more parks - pretty places. Kingston needs an Abercrombe & Fitch"
"More shops the restaurants maybe 7 & bars" (?) "Shops & the rivers"

"A fantastic place to walk, work b enjoy the river & swans all day long"

"Lotts of Shops close together"

?

I think this says "To look at all these amazing personal and powerful visions is a great experience.
It was a very transformational experience working on this - but worth all the hard work!!!"

My Summery:
I was fortunate that this event was just down the road from my address so a 20 minute walk was a good bit of exercise. I thought this was a good way of informing the younger generations of the importance of climate change and what they can look towards doing to help reduce the scale of it.they seemed to enjoy it and it would also be good to see the same exhibition with mature participants.
