3 March 2010

Ecobuild @ Earls Court

Ecobuild exhibition ran from the 2nd March 2010 - 4 March 2010. Ecobuild was a fantastic oppotunity to discover new and existing sustainable products for use in commercial and industrial building projects.
When I arrived on Wednesday 3rd March  I casually walked around the whole event and tried to look at everything. I gathered information about products I was interested in and found the overall experience intriguing. These types of event are important to me because they expand my awareness of sustainable products which assist me in future design specification.  Ecobuild have a website which lists all the manufacturer's that exhibited at the show.  I will not individually list each product that caught my attention but what I'll do is give you the link so you can see for yourself the wide range of sustainable products, news, upcoming events and verbal seminars available! www.ecobuild.co.uk/index.html

I snapped some pictures whilst I was there...
This talk was about politics and environmental responsibility
Green roof planters
City Scape's Living wall
Another view
Recycled rubber chair
And that's it as far a pictures! I didn't take many as I was looking around and bagging brochures most of the time. I attended a talk on the importance of trees in the built environment that I partially recorded with my phone but it seems like my phone ran out of memory space and stopped early :-/ However, I did find it refreshing to hear exactly how much lower the temperature is when in the shade of a tree, water retention & flood management, wind breakage, biodiversity, and the aesthetic quality. Below is what was recorded....
