Looking at regeneration along the docklands and canals
One of the first places we looked at was Little Venice. We looked at a map of the area and decided to head towards Camden because we wanted to visit Lime House Cut as well. One of the first things we came across was a cafe called "cafe lrville", this cafe was perched on top of a tunnel overlooking the regents canal. Here are some photos we took:
We made our way along regents canal passing regeneration developments along the way. Here are some more images
As me made our way along the canal we saw more development as private gardens were being cleared and redesigned as part of the regeneration of that area.
We arrived at LimeHouse Cut, a marina and last stop before the Thames River. As we were looking round we saw new residential and Bussiness developments being built. Reclaimed space underneath the railway arches that had previously been derelict became real estate for new shops and ammenity stores for the surrounding developments. Here are some pictures of the new retail space behined the arches of a railway bridge.
As you can see in the images there are residential developments springing up all around that area, all trying to snap up the sort after dock
land scenery.
Some more developments of Limhouse Cut showing the entrance into the marina with construction works taking place on the access road into the marina. Blocks of flats springing up beside the marina taking advantage of the dockside views. A new bridge was assembled to provide access for the new residents of the area.
Inbetween the bridege there was a lock that had'nt been used for a number of years but the local canal magagment had plans to re-open it and allow traffic to pass through. I took some pictures of it. The picture also shows the railway bridge and the marina in the background.
We saw a small art shop with sculptures in the window so we thought we'd pay a visit and see if they had done any work relating to the marina or regeneration of it but they specialized in other works but we thought it was worth asking.
